Hi, I'm Jeremy
I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself, the designer behind smallTransport. I have read, learned from, and enjoyed reading the thoughts and observations of designers in the “blog” arena for some time now. My first impression was that bloggers belonged to a legion of IRC addicts only with more ego. Yes, I know I missed the mark for the majority of online publishers. In no time I began to unearth a wealth of information and insight into graphic design, user interface design, and the design process straight from design practitioners for whom I held immense respect for. Wow, I thought, if it weren’t for this format I wouldn’t have known a smidgin of information about these folks; much less have benefited from their frequent observations into areas I am interested.
So here we are. You are reading the fourth official “article” (I use this term lightly) at smallTransport and I hope to, in time, provide a sliver of the inspiration and design insight I have received elsewhere.
Some personal info
- I hold a degree in violin performance (of all things).
- I attribute a great deal of my attention to detail, method, aesthetic, and the combination of all these to my experience studying music.
- In a perfect world, everyone would travel.
- Music fills my head 24 hrs a day.
- I believe design is far greater than aesthetic alone. I touch on this on the about page. It is the responsibility of the designer to inquire into the context, method, and purpose of their work.
- If you have something, give something.
- I am thrilled by the similarities of fine art, design, engineering, architecture, and language. There is of course much more to me and I am happy to answer any questions you might have via the comments below. Yes, I will answer just about anything. – cheers
My question would be:
What things bother/ed when trying to incorporate a blog into a multi-purpose site (ie. portfolio or service oriented site)?
And, are you satisfied with the current design, or will you be like most of us (always tweaking, never ceasing)?

Just wanted to pop in and say, “Thanks again for the tips and trick, and that my redsign is almost done.”
Also Im goign to try to do what you did and incorperate the blog with a professional design.

I saw Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone on their reunion tour a few years ago at the Jazz Cafe in London and spent the whole evening talking to Chris White. Being a bass player myself, that made my year.

Jeremy, I really love this design mate! My favourite part is actually the logo (the small bird??). I’d probably change the text colour on the comments though. Just a tad darker. It’s a little hard to read on the pale yellow.
Keep it up!
