Musical Baton - Jemma Hostetler
What a surprise. I just received the message below from Jemma Hostetler (aka prate) in response to my sending her a musical baton 6 or so months back. For years Jemma has inspired designers with her work at prate, her collaboration with the likes of Mike Cina and other uber talents, and numerous books, magazines and reviews. Thank you Jemma for sharing what makes you tick musically and for passing on the baton.
Jeremy, Is it beyond ridiculous that I took 6 mos. to reply to this? Man. I effin crack myself up. LOL. I am so sorry… sometimes I just lose track of emails… they get shuffled into folders… and subsequently forgotten about. I hope you can forgive me… if not, I totally understand because I suck.
I only have 2.24 Gigs of music on my machine. 99.99% of the music played while working is served from Dustin’s (husband) machine.
The last CD I bought was Three 6 Mafia’s new album, “Most Known Unknown”. I feel kinda let down by it… I had high hopes. I also got Mike Jones “Who is Mike Jones”. What a piece of crap.Right now I’m listening to Dungen’s “Gjort bort sig”. I guess they’re Swedish. I was confused when I first heard them and was told they were German. I thought “How the heck did they make singing in German sound so pretty?”
Five songs I listen to a lot or really like:
- Dungen’s “Festival”
- Poison Clan’s “Dance all night”
- Kraftwerk’s “Computer Love”
- Drunk Injuns’ “For Real”
- Jay Z’s “The Threat”
