New Year And New Beginnings
My life has been in an whirlwind lately. In the month of December I was married, hired by an amazing design company (more on that later) and spent a few weeks in Paris with my wife. Had someone told me these things would be happening a month prior I would have suggested they seek psychological help. Alas, these experiences were brought upon me and just in time for the new year.
Naturally, when life changing events occur one must stand back and let the dust settle a bit to fully consider the impact of what has happened. Though my intention has been to publish design relevant thoughts and discoveries through smallTransport, this entry serves as yet another iteration of personal information. Life events do in fact influence a designer’s work right (at least subconsciously)?
Marriage
Lucky me. I meet someone three years ago whose brilliance and beauty amaze me daily and as of the 14th of December, I am married to her. I very much look forward to our lives together and do so knowing she will challenge, inspire, and support me. What more could I ask for?
New Job
Some time in early December I received an email from the Visual Design Director of the company I have now accepted an offer from inquiring about my work and what I see in my future. I immediately opened a new tab in ominiweb, loaded the company’s page and was amazed. Shortly thereafter I spoke with a few individuals on the phone, which again piqued my interest, and was flown there with my wife to meet/interview with the team. More information on the company and my work there to come soon.
Days after my marriage and in the midst of planning a trip to Paris, my wife and I decided to accept an offer meaning we would be moving to the Northeast in a month’s time to embark on a new chapter of our lives. We are both very excited.
Paris
Ah Paris. What could be said about Paris that has not already been said? From the time I was in grade school I had a fascination with gothic architecture. In the sixth grade I selected to take a French course and dreamed of going to Paris, walking her ancient streets, and gazing upon Notre Dame. Here fifteen years later the opportunity to do so presented itself and Paris is every bit as magical and inspiring as I dreamed. I have visited no other city possessing the rich artistic history and magnificent beauty as that of Paris. Bringing in the new year in Paris with my wife is something I shall never forget. If you visit no other place and appreciate history and art you must go to Paris. Another visit is very much in order.
Has anyone else’s lives changed this much over the past month?
