Textpattern Admin Interface Update

In the process of putting this site back together I took it upon myself to improve the look of the Textpattern administrative interface a bit. I posted an iteration of the process on flickr and folks seemed interested in my sharing the files so I put aside some time to package them up. Ideally, I would like to work some on the actual interaction design/organization of the interface a bit as I have enjoyed using Textpattern for years and I feel it my duty to give back to the project. Besides, there is some great open source software out there used daily by we interaction/visual designers and rarely do I see the efforts of such folks contributed to the community.

So, consider this a start. This iteration of the Textpattern interface is by no means the result of monumental effort as it merely involved a nip and tuck of the stylesheet and a couple of images.

Onto the good stuff. To apply the design to your Textpattern installation (I am running 4.0.5 so let me know if you run into issues on other installations) do the following:

  • Download the files
  • Backup the existing “/textpattern/textpattern.css” file and replace it with the one included in the provided directory.
  • Copy the provided images into the “textpattern/txp_img/” directory.
  • Refresh your browser and your Textpattern administrative interface should reflect the update.

So, enjoy and if you run into any issues do submit your experience via the comments below.
